We are proud to share the publication of the new Worel guideline “childhood obesity,” an evidence-based guideline supporting healthcare professionals in addressing obesity among children and adolescents in primary care. It is intended for all primary care providers working with children and adolescents (2–18 years) and supports them in developing an integrated, feasible, tailored approach.
What makes this guideline unique?
- Considers obesity as a chronic condition with multifactorial determinants
- Promotes a multimodal, person-centred approach, attentive to physical, mental and social factors
- Emphasises interdisciplinary collaboration and clear referral pathways
- Provides practical guidance for diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up in primary care
- Focuses on sustainable lifestyle change and empowerment, rather than weight loss alone
Childhood obesity has a significant impact on health and well-being, both short and long term. This guideline aims to contribute to high-quality, coordinated, and sustainable care.
